Thomas VanVlack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 7, 2026.
Thomas E. VanVlack Jr. fell asleep in death on December 30, 2025, he was 73. Thomas was born on December 12, 1952, to the late Thomas E VanVlack, Sr. and Virginia S Corbin VanVlack. Born with cerebral palsy, doctors told his parents at birth he would not live to see 16. However, his parents took him home to care for him and gave him all they could, the greatest being love. "Tommy", as his family called him, did not have an easy life, but he did have a love for life! He always had a smile on his face and when asked how he was, his reply was always "I'm all right. How are you?" Despite his limitations, Tommy was always happy and thinking of others. He was a Boy Scout of troop 129 of Newburgh, NY and attended BOCES in Goshen, NY until the age of 21. He loved listening to music. George Strait and The Beatles were his favorites! He was an avid lover of Days of our Lives and Law & Order. Tommy is predeceased by his brother James and his sister Mildred, whom he called "Sis", she was his best friend! He is survived by his loving nieces Jacqueline Sprague (Bruce), Stephanie Cortez (John) and Adrienne Davis (Casey). Grand-nephews Cameron and Julian, grand-nieces Alyssa and Mia and great-grand-nephew, Kaysen. He was the light of our lives and will be dearly missed! Until we meet again, we love you, sweet "Boy"!

The family wishes to thank the kind nurses at Montgomery Nursing Home who took care of him in the final stage of his life and a special thank you to Denise at Montgomery Nursing Home who is truly an angel on Earth! Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Veteran's office.
