Thomas N. Vislocky, a lifetime resident of Pearl River, New York, died of complications due to colon cancer on September 21, 2024 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, New York. He was 60 years old.
Tom graduated from Nanuet High School and worked in various retail positions as a stock clerk. He was a dedicated fan of Nanuet sports since he was in high school. In 1989 he volunteered to tape varsity football games and eventually expanded his videographer role to JV football, girls and boys varsity and JV basketball, boys soccer and scouting trips. He also produced DVD's for individual players to help them with their college applications. In 2017 Thomas received the Ralph & Mary Smith Distinguished Service Award at the annual Nanuet Sports Hall of Fame Dinner in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the Nanuet community.
Another activity Tom loved was volunteering at the PGA Barclays Golf Tournament as a standard bearer. Over the years he walked the golf course holding his scoreboard sign with players such as Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar.
Tom was also active in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Church Council and he also assisted with Sunday School and Sunday worship services as a reader and a communion assistant.
Tom was a huge fan of CBS Sports, both the sportscasters and also the production teams. He got to know many of them over the years but Jim Nantz was his idol, and they became true friends. When Tom was inducted into the Nanuet Sports Hall of Fame Jim surprised him by sending an official CBS Sports blazer that was presented to him at the dinner. That night was one of the highlights of Tom's life.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Vislocky, and his brother-in-law Al Berardi. His survived by his sister, Kathy Berardi, his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Barbara Vislocky, nieces Crystal Stelick (Ryan) and their children Evan and Lauren, Jennifer Baxter (Joseph) and their children Aidan and Audrey, nephews Al Berardi (Jana), and Nick Vislocky (Melinda) and their children Emery, Ivy and Olivia. Tom also has a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he enjoyed many years of birthdays, graduations, weddings, and vacations in Cape Cod, Lake George and Long Beach Island.
Tom was fortunate to have lived a life of purpose and joy. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
