Thomas Walsh Obituary
Thomas Robert Walsh, 84, of Sebastian, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on February 22, 2026. A man of tireless energy and diverse talents, Tom lived a life defined by hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
Born in Elgin and raised in Joliet, Illinois, Tom developed a legendary work ethic that followed him throughout his life. In 1978, he moved his family to Florida, where he became a fixture in the local business and surfing community.
Tom was a true "Renaissance man" of industry. Over the decades, he served as a locomotive engineer, a contractor, and a firefighter. His entrepreneurial heart led him to own and operate a variety of businesses, including surf and beach shops, a moving and storage company, and a citrus and fudge shop. He even became a contest director for both national and local surfing programs across Florida and the United States.
Despite his many professional hats, Tom's most cherished role was that of provider and family man. He shared 51 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Debbie. Together, they built a home filled with love, humor, and stability. Tom was famous for his handiwork – notably the large deck he constructed to ensure there was plenty of room for his large family to gather and play. He was known for his humor and warmth, leaving a memorable mark on all. He also passed on his sweet-tooth to all the children in the family, who he deeply adored.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mayvis, and step-father, Fritz; his brother, Ronald; sister-in-law, Donna; daughter, Jill; grandson, Aaron; and granddaughter, Kayleigh.
He is survived by his wife: Debbie; his children: Daniel, Mary Beth (Patrick), Jennifer, Kieran (Jaime), Keleigh (Micah), and Kevin (Brittany); his siblings: Cynde (Benjamin), Jeanne (Ned), and Robert. He also leaves behind his Aunt Margie, his step-sisters Gina and Carla; and a large, loving legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you enjoy a piece of cake with someone you love and think of Tom.

Uncle Tom was woven into so many parts of my life - from childhood visits and Florida trips to the way he always wrapped us in a hug and told us he loved us. He and my dad shared such a strong bond, and being around him always felt like being around a piece of my dad too.
When I was caring for my dad, Uncle Tom and I grew close again. I´d often be in and out of their conversations, and after my dad passed in 2024, those calls with Uncle Tom every couple of weeks became something I truly treasured.
I´m grateful for the time we shared in these last weeks - the visit, the conversations, the chance to say the things that matter. I will miss him, but I´m thankful for the love he gave so freely throughout his life.
