Thomas A. Westerkamp, 93, of Lombard, beloved husband of the late Joyce A. (nee Nieman); loving father and patriarch of John (Lori), Thomas (Patty), Catherine (Joseph) Payne, James (Donna), Julia (Dan) Rinaldi, Robert (Kim), Anne Westerkamp, Laura (Joe) Senese, Christopher(Christine), Theresa Westerkamp and the late Stephen; devoted son of the late Harry and Marian (nee Alten); cherished grandfather of Rachel (Alex), Jacob, T.J. (Jessica), Michael, Jacqueline, Lauren (Josh), Kevin (Jillian), Amber (Casey), Dr. Jacob, Kelly (Dylan), Ryan, Michelle, Amanda (Patrick), Rebecca, Samantha (John), Sara (Casey), Anthony (Megan), Emily (Cody), Hannah, Clare, Martha, Jenny, Tim (Kate), Patrick, Jimmy (Maggie), Matthew (Stephanie), Jack, Trinity (Dennis), K.C. (Lindsay), Cootie (Sam), Christian (Zoe), Jordan (Cristina), Aaron, Antoinette (Angelo), Laura (Derek), Francesca, Sophia (fiance' Noah), Dr. Holly, Jack, Joey, Tommy, Nia, Quiana, Dasia; adored great grandfather of Ben, Reid, Emily, the late Levi, Aiden, Jackson, Riley, Amelia, Charlotte, Bennett, Zoe, Noah, Natalie, Sean, Lillian, Abigail, Katerina, Anasofia, Isabella, Charlie, Oliver, Adeline, Betsy, Gabriel, Anne Marie, Melanie, Madison, Elon, Mateo, Jake, Ben, Mackenzie, Tyler, Lucas, Annie, Audrey, the late Olivia, Chase, Beckham, Harper, Jameson, Brooklyn, Cameron, Chloe, Brooks, Tirigio, Joseph and Rayani; dearest brother of Lois Westerkamp, Sue (the late Roger) Mariani; the late Joanne Livingston; the late Robert and the late Joyce Westerkamp; and the late Sally (the late John) Davin. Surrounded by his loving family, Tom, was called to be with our heavenly Father on March 14, 2025. Tom received multiple medals while serving in combat in the Korean Conflict, namely the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic, meritorious achievement in the United States Armed Forces. Following his service Tom obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering, where he became an international giant in his field. Tom published multiple books, wrote over 300 articles in journals, and has consulted on numerous engagements at Fortune 500 companies and for the U.S. government. However, his greatest achievement was the extraordinary legacy of the family he built alongside his wife. A legacy of faith, values, strength and love, that will live on for generations to come. A legend, our hero, the leader of the band – we will carry Thomas in our hearts forever and pray that he is resting peacefully with Joyce, his beautiful bride, and the love of his life for 66 years. Visitation Tuesday March 18, 2025 from 3-8 P.M. at Cappetta's West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 4920 Main St., Downers Grove. Family and friends are asked to meet Wednesday, March 19 at St. Pius X Catholic Church 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard at 10 A.M. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
