Thomas J. Whelan, a devoted and hardworking grounds manager for New Montefiore Cemetery for over 50 years, passed away at his home Deer Park. Born on September 28, 1954, in West Babylon, Thomas was a loving individual who cherished his family deeply.

Throughout his life, Thomas displayed a remarkable dedication to his work, cultivating the cemetery grounds with precision and care. His commitment to maintaining a place of remembrance for others reflected his compassionate nature and sense of responsibility. Throughout the years he built strong friendships with the rabbi's he assisted and the families he dedicated his time in giving comfort at their time of need.

In his personal life, Thomas was known for his unwavering love for his family. He shared 43 years of marriage with his beloved wife Janice, creating a strong and enduring partnership. Together, they raised their children Jaclyn M. (Steven) Januszkiewicz, Thomas J. Whelan (Allie Lohlein) and Nicole Whelan (Eric)with love and support.

Thomas found immense joy in being a grandfather and held a special bond with his grandchildren: , Thomas, Emma, Nicholas, Benjamin, Esmae, Jayden and Jo'hel – each one bringing light and laughter into his life. His upcoming granddaughter was eagerly anticipated as another addition to the growing family.

 Thomas also leaves behind siblings who shared in both the joys and sorrows of life with him.

The services to honor Thomas Whelan's life will be held at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home on May 10th and May 11th, followed by a Mass at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church. The visitations will provide an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects and share fond memories of a man whose presence will be deeply missed.

Thomas's legacy of love, dedication, and familial bonds will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by many.
