David Whelan Obituary
The family has entrusted arrangements to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, located at 64 Andrews Street in Massena.
As per David's wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life in the spring at their convenience.
David was born to the late Kendall C. and Ann (Andrews) Whelan on July 26, 1956 in Massena, NY. He attended Massena schools graduating in 1975
Soon after high school he relocated to Portland, Oregon and began work with Reynolds Metals, where he was employed for several years until he moved back to the North Country. He continued his education at Canton ATC where he obtained an Electrical Tech degree.
David worked at The Tupper Lake CC and then Alcoa Massena Operations until his retirement in 2013.
He is survived by his brother Stephen and wife Patricie of Massena, NY a sister Marilyn and Brent Smith of Massena, NY along with two nieces, four nephews, three great nieces and three great-nephews.
In addition to his parents David was predeceased by a sister Sherry Lee McCracken.
David was an avid golfer. He was a member of The Tupper Lake CC and the Massena Country Club. He was a past member of the Massena Rod & Gun Club. David was a very active outdoorsman, who could be found taking great pride in his house and his lawn.
Memorial contribution may be acknowledged by planting a tree in his honor wherever it seems fit.
