Thomas (Tom) Whitacre was born on November 11, 1942, to Jack and Dorothy Whitacre in Silverhill, Alabama. Tom was the oldest of five children in the Whitacre family. He has lived in Mobile, Fairhope and Daphne, Alabama, where he called home and spent most of his adult life with his beloved wife of 59 years.
Tom passed away peacefully at USA Hospital surrounded by family on June 5, 2025, at the age of 82.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack; his mother, Dorothy; his brother Richard; and his beloved wife, Louise.
Tom is survived by his two daughters, Joy Black (Randy) and Hope Tillett (Grant); two grandsons, Nicholas Beisel and Joshua Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Bentley Simmons, Oliviah Simmons, and Austin Estes; sisters, Brenda Harrison (Charlie) and Sandra Breland (Donn); brother, Ronnie Whitacre (Millie); and step great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:30PM. There will be a private time for the family at 1:00PM, followed by visitation with friends at 1:30PM. Interment will follow at Belforest Community Cemetery.
