Denis Irvin Whitacre, 78, of Lacoochee, Florida, passed from this life on January 15, 2026 in Brooksville, Florida. He was born on January 17, 1947 in Mariemont, Ohio to Carl Whitacre and Frances Whitacre.
Denis graduated from University of Cincinnati in 1970 and began his career in accounting and finance. He attended First Baptist Church of Lacoochee for many years. He was a Mason and member of Kiwanis. He was an avid golfer, and loved watching sports, especially his grandkid's ball games.
Denis was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Frances Whitacre. He is survived by his loving wife of over 36 years, Judy, and her daughters Terri Bingham (Jimmy), Lisa Chamblee (Richard), Cheryl Kohlhof (Keith); Grandchildren, Brandy Chamblee (Mark); Chastity Hicks (Buddy); Kevin Bingham (Taryn); Will Chamblee (Kegan); Taylor Helms (Adam); Matthew Bingham (Errin); Naomi Frazier; Tony Kohlhof; Amber McPhail (Ty); Luke Kohlhof (Somer) and Madison O'Steen (Ryan); Great Grandchildren; Zyan, Lexi, Ashtyn, Leilah, Samson, Makenna, Kaden, Ace, Magnolia, Ravin, Saint, Joel and Rowdy. He is also survived by his sister Suellen Nuhn, niece, Nicole Cline (Mitch); nephew Mikal Nuhn, and great nephew Nicholas.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Lacoochee on Tuesday January 20, 2026; visitation at 10:30 am; memorial service at 11:00 am. Immediately following the memorial there will be a luncheon in the Church's social hall. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Denis, please visit our floral store.
