Thomas "Jim" James Worthington, age 75 was called home to be with his savior on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Jim was born February 13, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa to Elmer Verwers and Mary Belle (Ernie) Worthington. He spent much of his life in Des Moines. Jim was a proud member of the UAW Local 270 after working as a Coil Feed Setup Operator at Fawn Engineering for 28 years.

Jim loved to watch NASCAR, F1 and drag racing. He enjoyed camping, cooking, fishing and playing pool. He played golf and bowled on numerous video gaming consoles. He was a die-hard football fan watching collegiate and pro football every opportunity he could. He especially watched the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Dallas Cowboys with great enthusiasm while drinking his beloved drink of choice, Coca-Cola. He also loved to play various board and card games at every opportunity.

He is survived by his partner, Phyllis Anderson of Des Moines; son, Thomas "Jim" James (Pamela) Worthington II, daughter Joyce Anne Worthington and son Daniel Neal Worthington; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Worthington, Cody Worthington, Sierra Duke, Dakota Worthington, Destiny Hunt and Jonathon Duke; brother David Worthington; brother-in-law, Mike Monohon; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Verwers, Ernie (stepfather) and Mary Belle Worthington, sisters, Jacqueline Clark, Penny Monohon and Kathleen Hayes and brother Kevin Worthington.

Family and friends are welcomed for a celebration of life services held at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00am. Family will begin receiving guests at 10:00am. A luncheon will follow the service.
