Thora Davis

Thora Elizabeth Davis, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Thora Elizabeth Colden in Portsmouth, Virginia on November 22, 1952 to Effie Louise and Walter Herman Colden Sr. She graduated from Virginia State University with a Bachelor's Degree and during her career completed her Masters of Science in Education. Thora began working at Woodbridge Senior High School in 1975 as a Cheerleading coach and Special Education teacher. This is where she met Ronald Clarence Davis, married on October 7, 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland. Thora graciously dedicated her entire career at Woodbridge Senior High School and retired in 2008. Well, partially retired- continued to substitute teach until the end of 2022.
Thora was artistic and adventurous. Her passions were sewing, painting, baking, traveling with family/friends and Ballroom dancing. Thora was a devoted member of All Saints' Church and dedicated to her duties with Altar Guild since 1985. Thora's patience and care for others was given without hesitation.
Thora was preceded in death by her husband Ron Davis and her father Walter Colden. Thora is survived by her daughters- Alicia Rene Davis and Lenea Joy Davis; mother- Effie L. Colden; five sisters- Marlyn Tucker, Regina Colden, Necole Stewart, Evelith Dupree and Mia Colden; three brothers- Walter Colden Jr, Aaron Woodard and Seth Colden: and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Alicia and I are so proud of you. We are grateful for having you as our mother. Your strength and determination through your cancer battle was magnificent! During your last days with us: I, Lenea Joy Davis was honored to be by your side. When you were exhausted and weary from your courageous fight, one word had your full attention......Mommy! Thank you for all you did for us on this earth and all you will continue to do from another realm.
