Thurman Earl Boomer, born on October 7, 1949, in Jones County, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life on May 13, 2025. He was the cherished son of the late Neta Boomer and Webster Mattocks.
As a young boy, Thurman attended St. Luke AME Zion Church, where he was nurtured in faith under the leadership of the late Rev. G.A. Smalls.
Thurman received his early education in the Jones County School System and graduated with the Class of 1968. A quiet soul with deep wisdom, Thurman was known for his gentle spirit and steadfast love for his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports and spending quality time with those closest to him-especially his classmates, with whom he shared lifelong bonds.
After graduation, Thurman relocated from Maysville, North Carolina, to Brooklyn, New York, where he met the love of his life, Loretta Frazier. Their relationship was blessed with three beloved children: Quan, Nicole, and Neta, all of whom reside in Brooklyn.
Thurman dedicated many years to working in New York before eventually returning home to Maysville, where he found peace in the familiar rhythms of his hometown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randolph Boomer and his sister, Linda Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his sons, Quan and Keith; his daughters, Nicole and Neta; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister Patricia (Edward) of Maysville; two special nephews, Stacey and Tyrone; his favorite cousin, Sharon; and a host of other loving relatives, friends, and community members who were touched by his life.
Thurman's legacy is one of love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 24, 2025, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at White Oak Cemetery, Maysville, NC.
