Mr. Thurman "Dale" Edge, age 78, beloved husband of Jean Scott Edge of Warner Robins passed away on Friday afternoon, July 18, 2025 at Emory Houston Healthcare in Warner Robins.
Born in Dublin, GA he was the eldest of four children born to the late John Thurman "Stud" Edge and Ruby Nell Sweat Edge. The family had made their home in Soperton where he was a graduate of Treutlen County School, Class of 1965. After high school, Dale moved to Macon and worked at Robins Air Force Base in the Machine Shop. In October of 1967 he answered the call of the United States Army where he served until being honorably discharged in 1969. Upon returning stateside, Dale assumed his employment at Robins AFB where he worked as a Tool and Die Machinist until retiring with thirty five years of civilian service at the age of fifty five.
After retiring he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends at the Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. Post 6605.
Dale had a love for animals and was known to pick up and care for strays; and when neighbors lost their pets, they would oftentimes find them at Dale and Jean's house, simply because they felt drawn to Dale's caring nature.
Dale grew up attending Harmony Baptist Church in Soperton and after settling in Warner Robins, he attended Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Alicia Dixon and his sister, Susan Edge Tillman.
He leaves behind, his wife, Jean Scott Edge, Warner Robins, GA, children, Tonya Yvette "Toot" Vanek (Jim), Port Orange, FL, Joel "Scott" Locke (Carrie), Dublin, GA, Joshua Dale "Josh" Edge, Soperton, GA, two brothers, Mitchell Edge (Susy), Soperton, GA, Scotty Edge (Amanda), Bonaire, GA, seven grandchildren, Jesse Satterfield, Sierra Satterfield, Donovan Vanek, Riley Cameron (Landon), Nolan Locke, Jason McMillan, Daisy McMillan, five great grandchildren, Josie Satterfield, Kendall Satterfield, Riley Satterfield, Landon Logan, Carter Satterfield, his feline pets, Bugsy and Black, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating.
Mr. Edge will be laid to rest, with military honors, beside his parents in the Herndon Cemetery at the Zaidee Advent Christian Church.
