Thurman M. Sampson of Parkville, MD, formally of Cass, West Virginia, passed away on February 25, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

Born December 4, 1937, in Cass, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Flosten M. Sampson and Jessie M. (Fowler) Sampson.

In addition to his parents, Thurman was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Sampson (nee Simmons) of 59 years; sisters, Dot Ervine (Guy), Mary Belle Meadows (Leo), and Glady Gum (Charlie).

Thurman was a steel fabricator for Codd Fabricators & Boiler Co, located in Fells Point for 42 years. He built the stairs located in the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, MD, and The Cancer Survivor Memorial in Towson, MD.

After retiring, Thurman enjoyed woodworking. He would enter his projects in the Maryland State Fair; over the years he came home with 3 blue ribbons.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Wm M. Sampson of Abingdon, MD, and Brian S. Sampson of Parkville, MD, and his one sister, Linda Key (Harlan) of Summersville, West Virginia.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Arbovale Chapel, 162 Old Route 28 Road, Arborvale, West Virginia, 24915. A Funeral Service will be held on March 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm, with Mike Bond speaking. Burial will follow at the Arbovale Cemetery.
