TILAH MARIE MOORE, 1972-2022
"A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong." Today, our hearts are broken as we announce the sudden passing of Tilah Marie Moore on December 3, 2022.
Ironically, Tilah was well-known for being late to everywhere she was supposed to be only to be excessively early in departing this life for the next one. In Heaven, she will be welcomed with open arms by her mother, Rhonda Gent; grandfather, Deward Small; uncles, Jerry Kennedy and George Owens, Jr., and many others. Although her journey through life on Earth was cut short, the impacts of her generous heart, kind soul and infectious personality will be felt by all who encountered her for years to come.
Tilah was born and raised in Logan, WV and after graduating high school in 1990, she chased her dreams of helping others fight for what was right in this world. She was never afraid of hard work and often held several jobs with demanding schedules while studying to become a paralegal. As a legal professional, she worked for both private and public practices for over 20 years, culminating a long and prosperous career at the WV Department of Transportation Office of Administrative Hearings. In her spare time, Tilah enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids; she was a well-known prankster, sausage-ball maker, infamous story-teller and the life of every party once she showed up.
Tilah is survived by her loving husband, Tommy. She was the proud Mom of Jessica Fleming, bonus mom to step-sons Dustin and Levi Moore, amazing grandmother to Aria and Wrenley Moore, loyal sister to Chris Gent and his wife Shelly, and Stefanie Thorne and her husband Allen, crazy-fun aunt to Jason McCloud, Ashleigh Preece, and Evan and Reagan Gent, affectionate granddaughter to Lucy Small and compassionate niece to Debbie Owens, Karen Kennedy, Jennifer Phipps and her husband Dennis.
Tilah went through life never knowing a stranger, only friends she had not talked to yet. We invite all those available to join us in celebrating her life on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Visitation will be held from 6pm – 9pm at Akers-James Funeral Home in Logan, WV. The burial service will begin at 1pm the following day, 9 December, at Akers-James Funeral Home. Tilah will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV. Flowers or online condolences can be given at www.jamesfh.com.
