Tillmon Hill, Jr. of
Bolivar, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on February 7, 1932, in Bolivar, Tillmon was a dedicated community member whose spirit touched the lives of many. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will forever be cherished.
For over 38 years, Tillmon owned and operated Hills Upholstery, a venture that reflected his craftsmanship and passion for detail. He also shared his talents in various capacities, having worked as a butcher at Creekmore's Grocery, and at the Bolivar Packing Company, demonstrating both skill and dedication in every job he undertook. Tillmon's entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his ownership of Hill's Music, a venture through which he connected with the community through the power of music. Additionally, he served as a substitute mail carrier, ensuring that his neighbors received their letters and packages, ever the reliable figure around town.
A proud member of the Army National Guard, Tillmon served his country with honor for three years, embodying the principles of duty and service that characterized his life. His commitment extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was an active member of the Dixie Hills Baptist Church, where he found strength and fellowship among his community.
Tillmon's passions reached far and wide. He had a love for woodworking, creating beautiful pieces of furniture that stood as a testament to his creativity and skill. His joy in outdoor work was evident, as he delighted in tasks that brought him closer to nature. Music was also a significant part of Tillmon's life-he played and sang in the Ramsey Kerney Band, sharing his musical talents at family gatherings and dances, creating memories that will last through generations. He even entertained crowds by showing movies at different theaters, bringing joy and escapism to those around him.
His family, the heart of his world, included his beloved wife, Lois King Hill of Bolivar, whom he met in 1951 and married in Corinth, MS on August 31, 1952, and his cherished daughter, Dedi Wadley and Kent of Bolivar. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Dalton Wadley and Lillie, and he adored his great-grandchild, Peyton Wadley, who brought sparkle to his later years. He also leaves a brother, Jerry Hill, of Jackson.
Tillmon's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, as he was preceded in death by his parents, Tillmon and Mildred Hill, and his brothers-James, Jewel, and Jimmy Hill. He is remembered as a kind, hardworking man with a gentle heart, who walked through life with humility and sincerity.
