Tim MacPherson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 2, 2026.
Tim the "Candy Man" MacPherson passed away January 27, 2026 with his wife Charlie by his side. He was born April 15, 1944, the son of Lorraine and Donald MacPherson in Minneapolis, MN.

Tim attended Annunciation grade school and graduated from DeLaSalle High School. He went on to Court Reporting School, but early on decided he was not suited to that profession. During his school years, Tim worked in the grocery business starting at Conrad's Grocery stocking shelves and filling grocery delivery orders followed by Penny's Super Markets advancing to the position of produce buyer. After graduation Tim started his sales career at Vendall, Inc. buying and selling vending equipment and supplies (candy). He went on to work for Hershey Chocolate for 20 years advancing to the position of Regional Sales Manager in Duluth, MN. He continued working in candy/grocery sales with various brokerage firms for an additional 15 years. During all these years, Tim's was a "must stop" house for Halloween as he saved his samples to share with the neighborhood kids. He delighted in being known as the "Candy Man" on his street and among the friends of his children.

Tim and Charlie married on August 11, 1972. They shared more than five decades of victories, moments to celebrate, Thanksgiving feasts, and their share of life's challenges. Tim would admit to his children that any successes he achieved wouldn't have been possible without Charlie in his life.

Tim enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially annual trips to Canada at Dogtooth Lake and fly-in fishing trips with good friends. He "bird" hunted in North/South Dakota and MN and deer hunted in NW Minnesota "at the farm" enjoying time and making great friends.

Tim was most proud of his children, Marie and Don, and all their accomplishments, sharing their joys and sorrows and learning from them at every opportunity. The final decade of his life brought Tim a proud, new title – "Grandpa." His granddaughters were the light of his life; he couldn't get enough of their hugs and kisses.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Stacy Sue, parents Lorraine and Donald, grandmother "Mimi", aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife Charlie (Cheryl), daughter Marie (David) Conyers, son Don (Michelle) and granddaughters Quinn and Greta, brother Tom, brothers-in-law Greg, Pete (Kelc), Steve and Mark (Marilyn) Hill and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all Tim's care providers, especially those at Barnes Care in Esko, Aspirus St. Luke's Hospice, the many Aspirus Hospital teams, and his doctor, Dr. David Arvold.

Services will be held February 12, 2026 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Duluth (Pike Lake), MN with visitation at 10:00 am followed by 11:00 am funeral Mass. Private inurnment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
