Tim McGuire Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home on Feb. 1, 2026.
Timothy D. McGuire of Madison, died Friday January 30, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband to Colleen Goodwin McGuire.

Tim was born in New Haven on August 6, 1955, son of the late Charles F. and Antoinette "Tessie" Swirsky McGuire. He worked as an IT specialist for SNET, CSC and DSC for many years until his retirement. He was a volunteer firefighter and member with M. P. Rice Company 2 in Branford for 50 years. In addition to Colleen, Tim is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews both related and "adopted". A special thank you is sent to his niece Jennifer and her husband, Peter Carden for all of the love and support given to Tim during his illness. He was predeceased by his sister Laurie McGuire Romanik, and his best friends Anthony Kobylanski and Laddie Donaldson. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Dory and RJ.

Tim was an avid boater and fisherman who fished both fresh and salt water. He also made annual trips to Pulaski, New York salmon fishing with his fishing buddies. He always shared his catches with family and friends because he didn't like to eat fish. There was no friend more loyal than Tim. He was a devoted family man and dedicated neighbor. You didn't even need to ask and he would be there. Although Tim had a quiet way about him, he had a great his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all. Tim's family is deeply grateful to all of Tim's home health care workers: Vicki, Paige, Jennifer, Mike, Lynn, Dina and Denise.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:00AM in the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main Street, Branford, CT 06405.
