Tim Mechaley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angels Cremation Center - Bakersfield on Oct. 18, 2023.
James Timothy (Tim) Mechaley, 72, of Kernville, California passed away on September 23, 2023 of complications due to Leukemia.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Mechaley of Bakersfield, California. He is survived by his children,
Timothy B. Mechaley,
Michael P. Mechaley,
Megan T.B. Mechaley,
Mark J. M. Mechaley,
nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He is survived by his brother, Tom Mechaley and sister, Teresa Quinn
Born on February 20, 1951
Tim attended St. Francis Grade School and Garces High School. He loved his friends and loved sports, especially Football and Basketball. He played Basketball for Pepperdine College in Los Angeles, CA and Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska. It was in Nebraska where he met his wife, Maggie. In Omaha they raised four children. He worked in many ventures - counselor at Boys Town, business owner, restaurant manager.
After divorcing, he returned to Bakersfield. He loved to fish, play, and be funny. He was an extraordinary singer and loved entertaining people.
His sister, Teresa, recalls the funny, funny times she and Tim spent together as siblings, especially as kids. "No one could make me smile bigger or laugh harder than Tim. He was a charming, funny, handsome, out-going, and a talented person. I am so glad I was there for that period of his life and have wonderful memories of him then.
His brother, Tom, recalls the fun they had growing up, playing sports in JBA baseball, tennis, swim team, surfing etc., and the many fly fishing trips with Dad in the Sequoia's, Sierra's, Wyoming, and the last one in Montana. He remembers how he loved to joke, laugh, sing, and was quite a loving character.
In the later years of Tim's life he was not well due to poor life style choices, poor health, and finally Leukemia. He managed those difficult years with humor. He had a gift for making people laugh. He kept the troops entertained. At the KECK Cancer Center (for leukemia) in LA he kept the staff laughing including himself.
SERVICES.
He requested no funeral. A Service will be held at a future date at the Catholic Cemetery on his mother's farm in York, NE. His remains will be buried close to his mother's site.
