Timothy Arthur Tiede, 70, was born on July 14, 1954 to Arthur and Loretta (Kovarik) Tiede in Fargo, ND. On Wednesday February 5, 2025, Tim passed away peacefully in his sleep at home after a short battle with cancer. He grew up and lived in the Englevale, ND area all his life. Tim went to school in Lisbon, ND. He worked various jobs and participated in rodeos all his life.
When he was younger, Tim rode bare back horses, amateur and went Pro for 3 years. He was an avid hunter and trapper and tried to keep the coyote population down for the local ranchers. He also enjoyed hunting predators with his many grey hound dogs. His favorite grey hound fox dogs were Toby and Maggie along with coyote dog Chief. For 25 years he bought fur for a company in South Dakota and made many friends along his fur route. Tim loved to collect guns of different calibers and sizes. He spent a lot of time in his gun room reloading shells for himself and others.
He married the love of his life, Sandy, in 1985. Together they started Bar S Rodeo in the 1990s. They continued this adventure until they retired in 2023. T S Bucking Horses was formed after that until present day.
Tim, was and still is the definition of "Cowboy". Skin like leather, tougher than nails and a little rough around the edges. Tim and Sandy became more than just Rodeo contractors, and more than just a friend, they became family. Many people didn't see the soft side of Tim; he'd play with the dogs and have kids crawling all over him, he was a kid at heart stuck in that tall lengthy cowboy body. Tim was rough and tough until you saw him running around his living room playing with a 5# dog. You never knew what he was going to say but if it was on his mind it was going to be said.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandy. His two daughters Stacy (Brad) Wolf, of Sturgis, SD, Kelly (Casey) Kellogg, of San Diego, CA; stepsons Rich (Brandi) Krause of Mandan, ND, Randy (Kelly) Krause of Casselton, ND; grandchildren, Brooke Heppner, Austin Lunde, Kaitlyn (Tyler) Harlan, Taylor Kellogg; step–grandchildren Hannah and Grayson Krause, Drew and Ian Krause, Brooke and Alexis Wolf; great grandchildren William and Gabriella Harlan; brother Lee Tiede and sister Marjory Kuck; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Judy (Steve) Dick, Bonnie (Ken) Satreaas; numerous nieces and nephews and all his rodeo family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Loretta, mother and father-in-law Harley and Gert Junker, sister-in-law Maxine Tiede, and brothers-in-law Herb Kuck and LeRoy Thoreson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. followed by the prayer service at 4:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Lisbon. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Standing Rock Lutheran Church in Fort Ransom, ND. Tim's funeral service will be lived streamed below.
