Timothy Broetzmann Obituary

Timothy Broetzmann

December 8, 1948 - January 16, 2026

Timothy P Broetzmann passed away at the Marshfield Clinic ER in Rice Lake, WI on January 16, 2026. He was born Dec 8, 1948 in St. Paul, MN to Truman and Zita Broetzmann. He spent time living with his maternal and paternal grandparents as a small child, because at his birth, his father was finishing Seminary in Missouri. Later, when his father contracted TB and had to be admitted to a sanatarium, he again spent time living with grandparents. When his father became a minister, and later filled in at many different Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches in WI, Tim was always driven to the closest Missouri or Wisconsin Synod parochial grade school because both parents desired that he should receive a Christian education. Tim's mother was also a pastor's daughter and granddaughter. There were many ministers in Tim's family and still are.

Tim always loved school. He especially loved numbers. At the time he started high school, Tim's father had taken a church in Foster, WI near Osseo, WI. Tim graduated in 1966 from Osseo High School. From there he enrolled in Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, and spent about a year there pursuing his education. Part of that time was spent at their Germany Campus. After that, Tim transferred to what is now UW-Eau Claire to pursue a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. In 1969 he took a job with Uniroyal in Eau Claire, WI as summer replacement help during his summer break from college. At the end of summer, he was offered a full-time job. That gave him the opportunity to work full time, trading off his shifts so he could work and attend college at the same time. During that time of his life, in July 1971, he also married the former Jo Ellen Olson of Rice Lake, WI. The marriage was performed by his father at the Foster, WI church. He graduated from UWEC in 1973 and was promoted into the Accounting Department at the local Uniroyal plant. In 1991, the plant was closed and Tim was offered a transfer choice to either Alabama or to Oklahoma. He chose the Opelika, AL plant to continue his career. He stayed at that plant for about 10 years and was later promoted to Regional Controller, working near Michelin North America Headquarters in Greenville, SC. He was responsible for tire plants both in the US and Canada. He also was able to take a trip to the Romania tire plant to help iron out some difficulties between the EURO and the Dollar.

Tim loved fishing. He fished almost every day, living on Lake Hallie and having a weekend cabin in Birchwood, WI. He also loved watching both pro and college sporting events. And Tim loved collecting Red Wing Pottery and Stoneware along with his wife.

Tim adored his sister-in-law and brother-in-law and the shared nieces and nephews of his wife's family and was so very proud to hear of all their accomplishments. He also loved his neighbors, co-workers, classmates, relatives now gone to Heaven, cousins and many friends. He enjoyed being helpful to other people he met, and was always thankful for everything the Lord had given him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and other close family members. Tim is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Jo Ellen, and the much-loved family members, friends, coworkers, relatives and classmates abovementioned.

A private family funeral service will be held. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wisconsin is serving and assisting the family with the arrangements.
