Timothy "Tim" Michael Brubeck, age 49, of
Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. He was born on August 20, 1975, in Woodbridge, Virginia and raised in Spotsylvania County.
Tim worked as a computer programmer for a TSA contractor for over 15 years, applying his sharp mind and technical skill with quiet dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, and other video games, and in his role as a passionate and supportive moderator for Positive Gamer and other online streamers.
More than anything, Tim was a beloved "step-up dad" to his stepson, Zachary Hoover, and a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his older brother, David "Bill" Brubeck; stepsiblings, Lauren King-Hume and Stewart King; ex-wife, Jessica Stewart-Brubeck; stepson, Zachary Hoover; two nieces; nine nephews; stepmother, Carolyn Brubeck; stepfather, Fred Carter; and best friend, David Bird.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Arnold Brubeck; and mother, Cindy Ann Carter.
Tim's legacy is one of joy and imagination. Known for his infectious laugh and playful soul, he was the creator and ultimate master of the "blanket monster" game, a favorite among the children and his younger siblings. A true child at heart, Tim loved to swing so much that he wore through countless eye hooks on the porch swing built by his father-in-law.
Per Tim's wishes, no funeral service will be held. To honor his memory, his ashes will be divided: a portion will go to his beloved stepson, Zachary; another will be laid to rest in the Stewart Family Cemetery in Sumerduck, Virginia; and the remainder will find their place in the "Dork Dungeon," where Tim, his brother, and close friends spent countless nights adventuring through imaginary realms.
Tim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him-but his laughter, love, and legacy will live on in every swing, every game, every conquered dungeon, and every joyful memory.
