Timothy A. Butterfield
Born: January 9, 1957
Died: September 16, 2025
Timothy Alan Butterfield, age 68, of Dwight IL, and a well known Morris businessman, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Morris Hospital.
Tim was born on January 9, 1957, in Morris, to Charles Gene and Mary Jane (nee Muffler) Butterfield. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School and Morris Community High School with the Class of 1975.
Tim was an integral part of the operation and management of Echo Lanes and Crossfire Laser Tag, which the Butterfield family owns and operates in Morris, IL. In that capacity, he received specialized training through the Brunswick School of Mechanics and Qubica AMF Scoring School. He also held a patent for a part which improved the ball return mechanism. An avid bowler himself, he bowled many perfect 300 games, and was a great teacher who shared his knowledge of bowling generously. Tim also took great pride in supporting the Special Connections of Grundy County bowling leagues.
A loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, brother, and uncle, Tim was actively involved in his daughters' school and sports activities, and his grandkids activities as well. He will be missed by his large and extended family and no one will ever take his place.
Tim also had a passion for motorcycles, both riding and building, and was a devoted fan of Nitro Motorsports, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago White Sox, an interest he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren. He was very handy, had a mechanical mind, and was always fixing something. In his later years, he found great enjoyment in buying, repairing, remodeling, and flipping houses.
Surviving are his loving wife, Cheryl (nee Olroyd) Butterfield; three daughters, Michelle (Glenn) Larkin, Sarah Butterfield, and Jessica (Dylan) Brandt; five grandchildren, Brysen Allen Seidler, Payton Alan Larkin, McKenna Mae Larkin, Mila Ruth Brandt, and Ella Gene Brandt; two sisters, Mary Marlene (Robert) Bryant and Holly Ann Waldron; one brother, Barry Joseph Butterfield; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Ruby Doo.
He was preceded by his parents, Charles and Mary Jane; two brothers, Charles G. Butterfield, Jr. and Edward T. Butterfield; and a sister-in-law, Kim Olroyd.
Tim's family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Koosha Paydary and his Nurse Practitioner, Hannah, at Rush University Medical Center, and all the nurses at Morris Hospital, especially Lindsey and Kenzie.
