We mournfully announce the passing of Timothy Alan Carter, affectionately known as Timmy, on June 27, 2025.
Born on January 10, 1960, in Sutton, WV, Timothy was an adventurous soul with a knack for pushing boundaries and making the ordinary extraordinary. A talented craftsman, he was a carpenter by trade, but his creativity was boundless. He had an uncanny ability to transform raw materials into beautiful masterpieces that still adorn the homes of Sutton, his place of birth, and Orrville, Ohio, where he once resided. His witty charm and playful spirit made him the life of every gathering, leaving an indelible impression on all who knew him.
Timothy's love for life was evident in his diverse hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding peace and tranquility in nature. His dexterity was not confined to woodworking alone; he was a skilled guitarist and would often spend his evenings strumming melodies that resonated with his feelings. His love for movies, video games, and playing cards was only surpassed by his passion for tinkering. Whether it was fixing a broken appliance or revamping an old piece of furniture, Timothy found joy in using his hands to create and restore. His love for his craft and his zest for life were a testament to his belief in the words of the Bible, Ecclesiastes 9:10, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."
Timothy is survived by his daughter, Katherine Cottrill; son, Brian Carter; brother, Jerry Carter; sister, Janet Carter; ex-wives, Judith Cottrill and Sheila Jarvis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Orville Carter; daughter, Erica Gardner; brothers, Bill, Jack, Jim, Johnny, Donald, Richard, Douglas Carter; and sisters, Carolyn Jackson, Betty Carson, Rita Ramsey, and Lois Waugh. His presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones.
We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Timothy on his memorial page. Let us celebrate his life and the joy he brought to ours by sharing stories that capture his adventurous spirit, his talents, his creativity, and his witty charm. Even in our mourning, we find solace in the remembrance of his life and the happiness he instilled in ours.
