MASSENA – Timothy R. Chontosh, 62, a lifelong resident of State Route 37C, unexpectedly passed away Friday morning, July 26, 2024 at his home.
Tim was born January 28, 1962 in Massena, the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Lucille (Dore) Chontosh. He attended Massena Central Schools, graduating in 1980. On September 21, 1985, he married Julie L. Ward at the Church of the Sacred Heart.
Tim was a laborer first starting at Reynolds, later transferring to Alcoa and retired on October 1, 2023 from Arconic. He greatly enjoyed golfing, playing softball and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandson.
Tim is survived by his wife, Julie L.; his son and best friend, Matthew (Heather) Chontosh of Massena; his grandchildren, Hayleigh Armstrong and Cooper Chontosh; his sisters, Gail (Mike) Ashley of Massena and Kim (Tim) Lawrence of Pulaski; his brothers, Rick (Robin) Chontosh of Rochester and Joe Jr. (Julie) Chontosh of Massena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, however there will be no services at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Massena Volunteer Fire Department.

Although we did not really get to know Tim very well,( since we are only get to visit in the summer) we valued his friendliness and generosity. You could not find a nicer neighbor. We will certainly miss seeing him outside working on his lawn ( he was a meticulous landscaper) and sharing the occasional conversation. Our deepest and sincere condolences to his loved ones. He was truly a treasured man. May God wrap His Arms around you all and comfort and sustain you.
