Timothy (Tim) Voss Coffey died on May 31, 2022, in Bryan, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 2pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in College Station. A funeral will be held at Lucas Funeral Homes in Grapevine, Texas, followed by a graveside service at DFW National Cemetery, at a later date.

Tim was born on November 30, 1950, at William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas, to Jack M. Coffey, Sr., and Lacey Dell Stokes Coffey. He had two older brothers, Jack (Mickey) and Michael. His father served in the U.S. Army and the family moved around several times during Tim's childhood, living in Alaska, Georgia, Virginia, Indiana, Germany, and Texas.

When he was just 16 years old, Tim met his future wife, Sharon Pena, at Pirmasens Army Base in Germany. Tim coached Sharon's softball team, they sat together on the bus to school, and they spent many afternoons at the local teen club together. Although he lost touch with Sharon when his family left Germany for the States, he never forgot her.

After high school, Tim attended Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, became the Commander of Company E2, and was selected to be a Ross Volunteer. He graduated in 1973 with a degree in business administration. Tim created many lifelong friendships while at A&M, and he developed a love for the university that would prove contagious amongst his future family.

Upon graduating, Tim started his career in the U.S. Army and served his country for five years, rising to the rank of Captain and receiving two Army Commendation Medals for his performance, selflessness, and devotion to duty.

During this time, he returned to the love of his life by driving his Gran Torino to Denver, Colorado, to ask Sharon to marry him. They wed on December 28, 1974. Tim and Sharon shared a loving marriage of 47 years, modeling for their daughters, Christa and Jenny, the type of respect, love, hard work, compromise, humor, and commitment they should seek in their own future marriages.

After serving in the Army, Tim attended Texas Tech Law School where he was chosen to be a member of the Order of the Coif and served as the Texas Tech Law Review Editor-in-Chief. After graduating in 1981 and gaining admittance to the Texas State Bar, Tim worked in private practice and ultimately started his own law firm: Gilbert & Coffey, and then later, Gilbert Coffey Hobson, with dear colleagues and long-time family friends. His practice expertise included corporate and banking law as well as commercial real estate law for which he became board certified. He was selected as a Texas Super Lawyer from 2003 to 2004, and nominated by a national peer review to appear in The Best Lawyers in America from 2002 to 2004.

Tim often arrived at work by 6:30am so that he could be home to have dinner with his family, do school pickup, or watch his girls play sports, rarely missing a game. He loved watching his daughters grow and learn, and he was their biggest fan. He encouraged them in their education (both became Aggies), careers, marriages, and interests. Supporting his daughters, sharing their interests, and helping them attain their goals was his greatest joy.

Due to his love for Aggieland, Tim and Sharon moved to Bryan in 2005, where he fulfilled his long-time goal of working for the university. Tim represented the Texas A&M University System and even helped establish a branch in Costa Rica. He retired in 2016. Tim and Sharon spent much of their time in retirement as committed Aggie sports fans, attending women's soccer, volleyball, and basketball games.

On October 7, 2020, Tim welcomed his grandchild, Eva Lacey Frischer, in Grapevine, Texas. Tim loved being Eva's "Pop," and he drove up to visit her at least once a month.

Tim will be greatly missed. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, friend, and neighbor. He was a humble man whose integrity, work ethic, selflessness, intelligence, generosity, and compassion make him irreplaceable. He never hesitated when help was needed, be it by a turtle in the middle of a road, a lost dog, someone stranded on the road with car trouble, a sick friend, or a heartbroken family member. His love and helpfulness knew no bounds. What a man the world has lost but Heaven has gained.

Tim is survived by his wife, Sharon Coffey; daughter Christa and husband Pedro Ponce; daughter Jenny and husband Daniel Frischer, with granddaughter Eva Lacey; brother Jack M. Coffey, Jr., and wife Martha; nephew Jack M. Coffey III and wife Patti, children Brooke and Colton; nephew Chris Coffey and wife Amy, children Carson and Peyton; and niece Ericka and husband Travis Wheat and children Katelyn, Madison, and Lacey.
