Timothy Scott Couch, 67, of
Boardman, Ohio, formerly of
New Brighton, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 1, 2026.
Born December 7, 1958, Tim was the third child of the late Carl and Juanita Couch. He attended New Brighton High School with the class of 1977. He was a mechanic by trade, having gotten his introduction and schooling with automobiles initially from his older brother, David. He had also worked at Hydril in Rochester, PA, and had various other occupations through the years, including underground utility locating in
Boardman, OH, and delivery driver for MediRX in Poland, OH, before officially retiring in 2024. His heart was always with classic cars, and he looked forward to attending all of the various car shows in his area and that of Beaver County, PA. He owned his first car before he was even old enough to drive. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Michigan college football fan. Tim was a "Mr. Fix-It" and engaged in many home improvement projects in his younger years, including designing and building large decks and various interior installations. He loved to explore historical sites and state/national parks and visit the beach.
Above all else, Tim's pride and joy was his beloved daughter, Shannon, who always looked out for and helped her dad navigate through his medical struggles.
Tim was a determined, tenacious, resilient man who was fiercely independent even when he became a single-leg amputee. Tim was incredibly proud and honored to share his story as a guest speaker at the yearly amputee support group meeting held at Western Reserve Orthotic and Prosthetic Centre, Inc. in Austintown, OH. Towards the end of his life, he always said he wanted to enjoy each day "as it comes" and valued the simple things in life, such as socializing with his neighbors on the front porch or grabbing a bite to eat at his favorite local restaurants. In particular, Tim loved to eat out at Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in
Chippewa, PA, and at C's Waffles in
North Lima, OH. Tim was one of the biggest supporters of the late Harry Myers, owner of Harry's Place on Route 51 in
Beaver Falls, PA, and was instrumental in providing emotional support to Harry when he had his own amputation. Harry's Place employees and patrons were like a second family to Tim, and he loved stopping in for a fish dinner on Fridays.
The loss of Tim will be greatly felt by his daughter, Shannon (Lee) Blair, of WV, and his remaining siblings: Becky (Mark) Weatherly, of AZ, the one who still called him "Timmy", Mark Couch of VA, Tom (Judy) Couch, New Brighton, his car show buddy, and Mary Beth Burnsworth. In addition, he leaves behind special nieces and nephews, Shane, Troy, and Brent Weatherly, Tom "TJ" Couch, Christina Clark, Tiffany Gagliardi, and Rachel Burnsworth, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Juanita Couch, his brother, David Couch, and his great niece, Addison Grace Gagliardi.
Tim's selfless decision to be an organ donor has given others the chance to continue living. He will be cremated, and a family memorial service will be held at a future date.
Those wishing to honor his memory may do so through a donation to the Amputee Support Group, part of the Western Reserve Orthotic and Prosthetic Centre, Inc., 6431 Mahoning Avenue, Austintown, OH 44515 (330-792-6826).
Forever loved, never forgotten, and always in our hearts.
