Joyce Couch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory - Ball on Feb. 4, 2026.
Joyce Marie Hochstafl Couch, age 82, of Pineville, Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on September 16, 1943, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to the late James M. Hochstafl and Annie Twitty Hochstafl. Throughout her life, Joyce was known for her steadfast devotion to her family, her gracious spirit, and her appreciation for the beauty found in both nature and home.

Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald W. Couch, with whom she shared 63 years of faithful and loving companionship. Their courtship began 65 years before while Ron was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, and from that time forward they built a good life together marked by enduring love, mutual respect, and deep commitment.

She took great pride in the beautiful home that she and Ron had built together and found fulfillment in caring for her family. Joyce was a gifted cook who found joy in preparing meals that brought family and friends together. She also enjoyed tending to her yard and landscaping, collecting antiques, and leaf art in its many forms. In her quieter moments, she found peace in walking and hiking, drawing comfort from the natural world around her.

Joyce also enjoyed traveling, particularly by automobile, because it afforded her many more opportunities for her to enjoy the countryside and appreciate scenic beauty along the way. Over the years, she and Ron visited numerous state and national parks, experiences she fondly treasured.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myra Davis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Ron; her son, Lee Couch and wife Kim of New Roads, Louisiana; her daughters, Charlene Such and husband John of Athens, Tennessee, and Ronda Couch of Salem, Oregon; her sister, Judy Chandler and husband Garry of Bossier City, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Elaina Eberz, Brandon Couch, and Alexandra Such; and her great-grandchild, Lee Michael Couch.

Joyce Marie Hochstafl Couch will be remembered for her gentle nature, her quiet creativity, her strong morals and firmness of purpose, and her unwavering love for her family. Her life and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
