David Couch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Care Cremation & Funeral Service - Eastland Drive on Jan. 26, 2026.
David Ray Couch, "COUCH," 55, of Lancaster, officially scratched on the 8-ball of life on January 16, 2026.
A man of many talents-nearly all of them unmonetized-David leaves behind his girls with a massive collection of baseball cards and Iron Maiden "Eddie" collection. The family assumes this was his final, silent prank, much like an SBD. He always loved to travel and often threatened to move to Texas because he absolutely loved it there.
David was a legendary figure at the local Waffle House (his home away from home!), known primarily for his ability to talk a big game while occasionally delivering. Affectionately referred to as "Hot Wheels" at the local pool halls, he loved the competition and the friendships he made through the years. He also enjoyed dealing poker tournaments and was a savage card player who always pissed the table off with his antics; he truly tested your poker face! He will definitely be missed by his friends from the local and online card shop owners, who are likely facing immediate bankruptcy without his patronage.
To his daughters, Crystal (Kevin) Couch, 34, of Lancaster, and Racheal (Chase) Couch, 28, of Nicholasville, he was a lifelong source of questionable advice and jokes that rarely landed until the eleventh telling.
To his grandchildren-Bentley (4), Raelynn (3), and Wyatt (1)-he was the Pappy who weaponized sugar and actively encouraged rotten behavior.
David's memory is carried on by his mother, LaVerne Crank of Lancaster; preceded in death by stepdads Carmelo Berny (1996) and Gene "Pop" Crank (2017); his sister, Melanie (Eddie) Brown of Louisville; his brother, Eujenio (Jessy) Couch of Nicholasville; plus all of his extended family and special friends he's made through the years. He was a one-of-a-kind original, with a larger-than-life personality and unfailing loyalty to family and friends.
David will be truly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
