Timothy J. Downing, age 66, of rural Ontario, passed away peacefully at his home on April 21, 2025, recently diagnosed with liver/pancreatic cancer.
He was born on March 31, 1959, at Tomah Memorial to George and Delphine (Dorner) Downing of Ontario. He attended Ontario Grade School, graduating from Brookwood High School, class of 1977.
Tim worked for Meca Sportswear, VA, Railroad, and 35 years for Cardinal Glass, retiring in 2022. After retirement, he worked part time for New Era Nursery.
In 2000, he married Debra Meacham until her death in 2005.
Tim was really in touch with nature. He loved gardening, feeding the birds, watching wildlife, hiking on trails, cutting wood for Friday night campfires, road trips, and fishing trips with his cousin, Jim.
Tim is survived by his partner, Dawn; his mother, Delphine Orr; two brothers, Vaughn and Dean (Bev) Downing; two nephews, Travis (Anne) and Dustin (Nicole) Downing; three great nieces; two great nephews; aunt, Joan Churchill; cousins, Jim (Paula) and Jolain (Steve) St. John; his buddies, Steve Laufenberg, Ronnie Ehle, Craig King and Bill Dorn; stepdaughter, Jaimee Perry; along with many Downing cousins.
Tim was preceded in death by his wife, Debra; his father, George; his stepfathers, John Shields and Stuart Orr; two infant nephews; a buddy, Greg Clark; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tim's family would like to thank Gundersen Hospital and Hospice Team for the great care during his illness, and Torkelson Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Ontario. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com
