Timothy Eavey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beeler-Gores Funeral Home on Apr. 30, 2024.
Timothy W. Eavey, age 61 of Hastings, passed away on April 28, 2024. Tim was born on March 9, 1963 in Hastings to Walter and Margaret (Elwood) Eavey.
A talented mason by trade, Tim's craftsmanship in construction was only matched by his commitment to his country, having served in the US Marines. His love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him, from his passion for hunting and fishing to his ever-present activity of chopping wood, even when on the phone with his daughter, Kelsey. Tim's son Josh was adept with a chainsaw by the age of 10, a testament to his father's hands-on approach to life. In his younger years, Tim enjoyed driving the International Harvester Tractor in parades and at the Barry County Fair alongside his dad.
Tim was the embodiment of generosity, always ready to give the shirt off his back, quite literally until he had none left. He was renowned for his pig roasting skills, which were the highlight of many events and parties. As the first to offer assistance with the heaviest and hardest jobs, Tim's selflessness and handy nature made him an indispensable part of his family and community.
Tim is lovingly remembered by his children, Josh (Kristen) Eavey, Kelsey (Tim) Ward; his cherished grandchildren: Jaxton, Nora, Cash, Waylon, and Trace; his siblings, Al (Valerie) Eavey, Connie (Rick) Hicks, Sheri (Tim) Hall; several nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret (Elwood) Eavey.
Relatives and friends may meet with Tim's family on Thursday, May 2 from 12 noon to 1 P.M. at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home where a memorial service will take place at 1:00 with Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 45 of Hastings. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Tim's family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Newaygo County Compassion Home for the loving care they provided to Tim during his time there. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may direct them to Newaygo County Compassion Home.
