Surrounded by family and his beloved dog, Toby, Timothy Reaves Erwin of Rockport, Texas passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025.
Born on February 21, 1948, in Houston, Texas, Tim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He touched the lives of many with his sense of humor, warmth, and gregarious nature. Tim played football, Little League through high school, and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1967.
Tim graduated from Sam Houston University in 1971 where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Tim served as fraternity president, a delegate with the Interfraternity Council and as president of the IFC. His sophomore year Tim was elected all campus favorite. He loved his Sig Ep brothers.
After college, Tim pursued a career in insurance, first as an agent, assistant district manager and then district manager in Austin, Texas with Farmers Insurance Group. An active member of the Rotary Club of South Austin, he served as its president 1987-1988.
Tim loved sailing, fishing, gardening, and music, but most of all he loved his daughters, grandchildren, pups and beloved wife of 35 years, Linda. An avid sailor Tim dreamt of taking long cruises with his wife on their 1966 Alberg 30, “Sonsy”. He was diagnosed with MS in 1990. In that time, he engaged in a battery of care procedures and interventions. He worked hard to live and thrive, but his dream of cruising would not come to fruition.
Tim is survived by his wife Linda; daughters, Christina (Chris) Smouse of Austin and Cindy (Patrick) Lodewick of Dallas; grandchildren, Miles and Lainie Lodewick, and Grey Smouse; sister, Julie (Kerry) Morris; brother, Joe (Cindy) Erwin; and nephews and niece, Krista (Brad) Fowles, Aaron (Kirsten) Erwin, Adam (Chelsey) Erwin; and extended family - all who will forever cherish his memory. We also are grateful for the compassion, care and love Anthem Home Health and Tribute Hospice provided.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 26 at 2:00 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Rockport, Texas. We invite family and friends to join us in remembering and celebrating his life. Please feel free to wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt. Donations may be made in his honor to your favorite animal rescue or local humane society; the American Alzheimer’s Association; or the American Multiple Sclerosis Society.
