Timothy Hahnlen Obituary

Timothy Lee Hahnlen died on October 10, 2024 in Tumwater, Washington due to ALS. Tim was born on September 18, 1956 in Seattle, Washington. He returned to Washington with his wife Roberta in 2008 after retiring with the State of Alaska. During his retirement he co-founded and was chief of a volunteer fire department in Evans, Washington before moving to western Washington to be closer to family. Tim was a kind and gentle soul and a devoted husband and father. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed gardening, carpentry, and spending time with his family and friends. Tim is survived by his wife Roberta Hahnlen and sons Jeff and Chris; father Gerald Hahnlen and stepmother JoAnn Hahnlen; brother Bruce Hahnlen and sister-in-law Donna Hahnlen; sister Shelli Nixon and brother-in-law Jason Nixon; nieces Jessica, Jillian, Maille and Brynna. Tim was preceded in death by his mother Janet Kleyn and stepfather John Kleyn. Donations in Tim's name can be made to the ALS Foundation.

I loved Tim. He was fantastic to work with at DOL. I have many fond memories of him. Im sorry for your loss.

Tim was my boss in IT and was always as sharp and humorous as he could be. We saw eye to eye completely on what we were doing and always knew that we were working for the people of the state of Alaska. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great guy who will be missed.
