Timothy Ivey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DW Brooks Funeral Home on May 14, 2023.
Timothy Shane Ivey, known to those who loved him simply as Tim, has finally been given the ultimate punchline: eternal peace. He was born on January 4, 1978, in Allentown, PA, and passed away on May 10, 2023, in Bandera, Texas, after an intense, courageous, final battle for freedom and peace – and we all know Tim never backed down from a good fight.
Tim is survived by his father, James H Ivey, who taught him about Jesus and Gods Grace; his older sister Stacy Chavez, who loved him dearly; his older brother Jimmy Ivey, who constantly prayed for him; his younger brother Jason Ivey, who always looked up to him; and his beautiful daughter Bailey, who was the light of his life and the reason he fought so hard for freedom from the struggles he faced.
Tim was a proud veteran of the Army and fought valiantly in the Iraq war, where he fought valiantly along side his Brothers. While Tim's love for his country was undeniable, it paled in comparison to the love he held for his daughter, Bailey. She truly was the apple of his eye, and he cherished each and every moment they spent together. Tim often said that being Bailey's father was his proudest achievement, and those who knew him could see the truth in those words. His only regret is that due to his intense battle and demons he faced, he wasn't able to be the Daddy he was in heart. He played football for Ranger Junior College, where he honed his skills in teamwork and camaraderie – and, of course, perfected his touchdown dance.
Tim's interests included working out (mostly to maintain his incredible biceps), watching movies (anything comedic or one-liners), and seeking freedom from the heavy burdens he carried. He always made sure to let everyone know how much he loved his daughter Bailey – and, let's be honest, he probably talked about her more than anything else. As a social butterfly, Tim was always the life of the party. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he had a knack for bringing people together. It was said that if you were feeling down, just five minutes with Tim could turn your frown upside down. But five minutes might be all you could take.
Funny, loving, and adventurous are just a few words that come to mind when describing Tim – but no words can truly capture the essence of his spirit. He was the kind of guy who could find humor in any situation and had a laugh that was absolutely contagious. If you were having a bad day, all it took was one of Tim's jokes to lift your spirits – and he had a never-ending supply of them.
Tim was a master of turning life's challenges into comedic gold. No matter what he faced, he found a way to make others laugh and feel better about their own lives. He took the struggles he encountered and transformed them into stories that could bring tears of laughter to anyone who heard them. His ability to find humor in adversity was truly a gift. Tim's final months were filled with facing the demons that plagued him for years. He was filled with hope, faith, and courage in his final battle in this life as he Talked to his younger Brother 2 to 3 times a day about Jesus, Freedom, his daughter, and the things that pertain to overcoming the battle for life.
In typical Tim fashion, he would want us to remember the good times and the laughter, rather than dwell on the sadness of his passing. So, let's all raise a glass (or a protein shake, in his honor) to Tim and celebrate the life of a man who brought joy and laughter to so many. May we continue to share his jokes, stories, and memories, and keep his spirit alive through the laughter of those who loved him.
Timothy Shane Ivey, you will be missed, but your laughter and love will live on in the hearts of your family, friends, and everyone you touched with your humor and kindness. Rest easy, Tim – you've earned it.
