Harry lll Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Funeral Caring USA - Drexel Avenue - South Central San Antonio on Mar. 13, 2026.
In Loving Memory of

Harry A. Clark, III

May 27, 1947 to March 6, 2026

Known as "Buzz" by everyone but strangers, and he never met a stranger, he passed away after a brief illness.

Born in Puerto Rico to Harry A. Clark, Jr. and Frances Tully Clark, he grew up an army brat with six brothers and sisters. His childhood travels took him and his family to numerous army posts, among them Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Hood, Texas. His parents eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas in retirement.

He was a gentle giant, eventually growing to a height of six feet, eight inches tall. Not one for basketball, much to everyone's surprise, he was an excellent swimmer in high school and graduated from Prince George High School while his father was stationed in Virginia.

Buzz graduated from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas where he joined the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, earning an undergraduate degree in political science and later a graduate degree in industrial psychology.

Buzz joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam teaching English to South Vietnamese fighter pilots and airplane mechanics in Saigon. After leaving the military, he continued serving the country and the United States Air Force as a civil servant in the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base and in the Occupational Measurement Squadron at Randolph Air Force Base.

In addition to dabbling in many home and vehicular repairs, Buzz stayed busy supporting his children in youth sports. He even served as a volunteer assistant coach and score keeper.

In retirement, Buzz occupied himself by singing in several religious choir groups as he loved all things musical, even teaching himself how to play the piano, and by spending time with friends and family, including his grandchildren.

Buzz is survived by his wife, Augusta, his three children, Christopher, Timothy, and Stephen, his five grandchildren, Holden, Harper, Jackson, Landon, and Harrison, his two daughters-in-law, Lisa M. Clark and Rebecca J. Clark, six siblings, Cathy Wiles (Roger), Lieutenant General (Ret.) Bob Clark (Susie), Sally Johns, Colonel (Ret.) Steve Clark (Ellen), Colonel (Ret.) David Clark (Ja Young), and Tommy Clark (Marilynne), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
