Timothy Douglas Leigh, 52, of Science Hill, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born May 30, 1971 in Somerset; son of Melvin Douglas & Wynona Carolyn (Singleton) Leigh. He worked as a Family Resource & Youth Services Coordinator for the Science Hill School. Timothy was a devout Christian. He was member of the Eubank Baptist Church and also attended the Creek Church, where he served as a member of their security team. He loved hunting, archery, fishing, rock music, storm chasing, history, and enjoyed going to the shooting range. He had a love for travel and went many places including, Scotland, France, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, & Germany. Timothy enjoyed telling stories about his travels and was very fond of his Irish & Scottish heritage.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 18 years, Penny Hines; a son, John & (Sarah) Leigh; his parents; Abby Blevins, who was like a daughter; Wynona Padgett, who was like a sister; aunts, Norlena Bullock and Janet & (Don) Haynes; uncles, Larry & (Linda) Singleton and Jerry & (Nancy) Leigh; mother-in-law, Jody & (Ed) Huffman; father-in-law, Tommy & (Marcia) Hines; brother-in-law, Matt Bishop; best friends, Larry Hall, Ron Shepherd, Rocky Haste, Sean Slagle, Eddie Girdler, and many more; special collegues, Jimmy Dyehouse, Chris Tilley, Brad Hoover, Glen Bland, & Ron Brown; his Yellow Jacket family and all the children at Science Hill School; and his fur babies, Hershey, Sophie, Scout, Oscar, Jango, and Katie.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon & Luranna Singleton; paternal grandparents, Chester & Ora Leigh; and uncles, Richard & Gary Leigh and Edgar Bullock.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, January, 5, 2024, at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Shepherd officiating.
Private entombment will be at Science Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024, and from 1:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2024, until time of services at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
A reception will be held following the funeral service at Science Hill School on Friday, January 5, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Somerset Pulaski Co. Humane Society or the Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF).
