Timothy McClellan Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 19, 2025.
Timothy MacLean McClellan of Pembroke, MA
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Timothy MacLean McClellan, who died peacefully at home Thursday, January 30, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Amy, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 42 years was by his side.
Tim was born December 12, 1955, in Boston and grew up in Norwell. Son of Bob McClellan and Persis Sterling, he attended Norwell public schools, Cardigan Mountain School and The Governor's Academy. He was a gifted athlete who loved playing baseball, was a fearless soccer and hockey goalie, played tennis most of his life and enjoyed skiing and bodysurfing.
Tim was a fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox, whose games he watched whenever possible. He had a lifelong love of music and was a self-taught flautist with a natural ear. He was an avid reader of the Boston Globe and the New York Times and always well versed in current events.
Tim started his career in warehouse operations at the South Shore Hospital. He was instrumental in implementing their first computerized warehouse management system and advanced to management. From there he became an expert in large computer systems and networking and went into IT management at a prominent Boston financial services company until retirement.
Throughout his life, Tim was often a man of few words and had a dry, incisive wit. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness and generosity, selflessly taking care of family elders and always being there for friends and family when help was needed. Tim showed up.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife whom he adored, Amy L. (Sands) McClellan, siblings Jonathan, Gwen, Sam, Christian and Angela, nieces and nephews Rachael, Liam, Arlen, Declan, Kaia, Kush, Alex, Rohan, Ian and Tyler and brother-in-law Nat Sands and his family, Janice and Trevor.
There has been a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tim's memory may be made to the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell.
