Timothy Joseph Moreno

Timothy Joseph Moreno passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2026. He was born April 9, 1978, in Bakersfield, California. The cherished son of Sal Moreno and Sarah Hughes. Tim's family grew to include his stepmother, Mary Moreno, and stepfather, Richard Monson. From childhood, Tim's curiosity and lively spirit kept everyone wondering what he was up to next.

Swimming was Tim's first passion-he swam "laps" in the bathtub as a toddler, crossed a pool at four, and joined a swim team at eight. At sixteen, he won the Western National Breaststroke at Cal State Bakersfield with the USS Swim Team. He attended Tehachapi High School and Mesa Community College in San Diego, later becoming a coach and lifeguard.

Tim loved building and fixing things, often with duct tape and WD-40. He restored Volkswagen Bugs, tinkered with electronics, and was an avid skateboarder.

Tim and Carla Leiran share son TJ Moreno, and he was Tim's whole world. TJ describes his dad as "hardworking, kind, charismatic, and full of joy."

Known as "Fred" to many, Tim's laughter and stories created lifelong friendships.

He is survived by his parents, step-parents, son TJ, siblings Rocky Monson and Tiffany Troussel, grandparents Maria and Sotero Moreno, and many loving relatives.
