Timothy Joseph Murphy, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Justin, Texas.
Tim was born on October 7, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. Known affectionately as “Tim” to friends and loved ones, he will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and generous spirit.
Tim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism.
Following his military service, Tim built a career in aviation. He first worked with NASA, contributing to advancements in aerospace technology during an important era of exploration. He later worked as an aircraft mechanic with American Airlines, where his skill, precision, and dedication were respected by colleagues throughout his career.
A devoted Catholic, Tim lived his faith through quiet acts of kindness, humility, and service to others. He was a faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church, where he remained an active part of the parish community.
Above all, Tim cherished his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Jeanne Murphy, along with Beverly’s daughter, Steffani Starry (Carl Starry), and their children Ryanne Starry and Jack Starry.
He is also survived by his children Michael Murphy (Christina Murphy) and Kimberly Carpenter (Michael Carpenter). He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Murphy Jr.
Timothy Murphy Jr.’s family includes Kaela Karmin (Charlie Karmin) and Skylar Cashman.
Michael Murphy and Christina Murphy’s family includes Tyler Bury (Erica Bury) and their daughters Samantha and Alexandria; Kaitlin Wilks (Ryan Wilks) and their children Kierney and Keegan; Justin Byrd (Lusa Byrd) and their daughter Reveille; as well as Cody Byrd, Lukas Newton, and Jayden Murphy.
Kimberly Carpenter and Michael Carpenter’s family includes Nicholas Carpenter (Christina Carpenter) and their children Axell and Avery; Karisten Carpenter; and Kelton Carpenter.
Outside of work and church, Tim enjoyed cheering on his favorite Chicago teams. A lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox, he rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game and share those moments with family.
Tim lived a life guided by his devotion to faith, his service to his country, and his unwavering love for his family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his quiet strength, and the love he shared with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
