Timothy Rys Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casper Funeral & Cremation Services on Oct. 27, 2025.
Timothy "Tim" William Rys, of Hingham, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1960, and grew up in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Tim was a devoted partner, father, son, and brother. He was a talented and sought-after contractor, known for his expertise in historical restoration and custom work. He especially loved the artistry of finish carpentry, which demands exceptional precision and skill. His craftsmanship touched many homes and hearts. He enjoyed making one-of-a-kind pieces - each made with care and tailored to the person receiving it. He was also known for his quick wit and thoughtful perspective, often blending humor with moments of quiet wisdom. In his free time, Tim enjoyed playing guitar, sailing and spending time with his family.
Tim's spirit lives in those he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving partner and soulmate of 30 years, Shari Hart of Hingham, Massachusetts and their daughter Sydney Rys of Hull, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Mary Rys of Ludlow, Massachusetts. He will be deeply missed by his three sisters, Kathryn Whyte and her husband David of Central Point, Oregon, Debra Gora of Shutesbury, Massachusetts, and Lisa Moriarty and her husband Daniel of Belchertown, Massachusetts, as well as his three brothers, Richard Rys and his wife Claudia of Princeton, Massachusetts, Michael Rys and his wife Judy of Goleta, California, and Jeffrey Rys and his wife Pam of Ludlow, Massachusetts. He was the proud uncle to four nieces and eight nephews, and cherished time spent with his extended family. Always loved, never forgotten.
We invite all who knew and loved Tim to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page to celebrate his life and the profound impact he made on all of us.

Tim was a kind and quiet spoken guy. He loved his family and friends and was an amazing woodworker and gifted musician. A great 5/9 partner and no family picnic was complete without his steamers! He will be greatly missed

I will always remember Uncle Tim at the annual Rys picnic at Camp Norwich. I can still see him sailing across the lake, pausing just long enough to be first in line for clams casino hot off the grill. He patiently taught me the rules of pitch so I could join the infamous card table, a Rys right of passage. His kindness and enthusiasm were unmistakable, and he will be missed by all. Rest easy, Uncle Tim.

My younger brother, Tim, was hardworking and talented with an exceptional gift for solving problems and creating beautiful and unique wooden gifts. A true craftsman, he mastered the art of woodworking and construction, creating lasting work that reflected artistry, skill, and care. Tim was always generous with his time, readily helping family and friends with their projects. He earned the respect of everyone who worked alongside him and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Tim said he made this for me because he thought I was sassy. I think he captured "sassy".

Tim was someone people just loved being around. He was soft and gentle, yet strong and fiercely brave. Profound and funny-one of those rare souls who always seemed to know when to speak, when to listen, and when to make you laugh. He touched so many lives in quiet, lasting ways, and I´ll carry him in my heart always.

Tim was my youngest brother - kind, gentle, funny, talented and brave. He loved music and played both piano and guitar. He was also an artist with wood, creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces for each of us siblings, each reflecting his unique love and understanding of who we are.
Last year, Tim came to Oregon with his daughter Sydney, and together we made sure he got to see a redwood tree - something he said he had always wanted to see.
Tim never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

To my Viking,

What a true blessing to have spent 30 years with the most beautiful, kind hearted, intelligent, & extremely talented man. My heart hurts deeply with sadness & the tears won´t stop.
You fought hard through all the pain & never complained. Even in the end, you were still calling your customers, setting them up with Bob for jobs you couldn´t do & making sure everything was taken care of for them.

You were so humble & full of wisdom. Thank you for loving me so deeply, unconditionally & for all you taught me.

I cherish the memory of our 1st date when you sat at the piano & belted out Beethoven´s Moonlight Sonata. I was in awe & you captured my heart right then. And all the songs you played for me on your guitar, especially on the beach. No music lessons ever, no sheet music needed, you had an innate God gifted talent for music that we will all miss dearly.

Thank you for my Danish reindeers. I still can´t believe you made them in 1 day. I showed you a pic of them online & was going to buy them. You said, "don´t buy them, I will make them." The very next morning when I came downstairs, there they were sitting on the table. I had tears of joy. They are precious to me.

I admired you as you helped family, friends, neighbors, & complete strangers. You dropped everything in a heartbeat if someone was in need, grabbed your tool bag & off you went.

I loved our 10 second kisses when you got home from work & how you would lovingly whisk me away from cooking to dance with me in the kitchen..twirling me around & ending with a big dip & kiss, even if briefly so dinner wouldn´t burn on the stove.

I will forever cherish all the happy memories we created together honey. We will always be connected by our strong bond of love. Love is all that matters & we sure had an abundance.

I miss you my best friend & soulmate, more than words could ever say. But will never say goodbye..just, I´ll see you on the other side. Til´ we meet again my love,
Love forever, your HFKP

PS...how fitting you passed on National Boston Cream Pie day! Your absolute favorite cake I made for you on your birthday every year. I will keep that tradition alive every year on your bday.
