Frank Rys Jr, lifelong resident of Hegewisch, entered into eternal life on October 4, 2025, at the age of 92. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Dolores (nee Rapacz) .
Frank's journey was one marked by devotion—to his faith, to his family, and to those fortunate enough to know him. A devoted Catholic, Frank’s life was deeply rooted in faith and community. He was a loving husband and father, a friend to many, and truly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Frank’s legacy lives on through his children: Martin; Warren (Christine); Geralynn (Brian Skudney) and Kenneth. Also through his grandchildren: Lauren Rys-Jones (Maxwell) and Peter.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Laura, his beloved sister Marcy (the late Richard) Ciecerski, and his son Steven and still loved by Steven’s wife Kay.
His family remembers him as a pillar of strength whose love never wavered. Throughout his 92 years, Frank touched countless lives with kindness, warmth and his humor. His presence brought joy to gatherings large and small, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
Visitation will be Friday, October 10th from 2 PM to 8 PM at the OPYT FUNERAL HOME, 13350 S. Baltimore Ave,Chicago. Funeral Service 9:00am proceeding to Church Our Light (St. Florian) Church for Mass at 10:00am. Interment private.
