Timothy Carroll Stakem Sr., 73, of Frostburg, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at UPMC. Born and raised in Midland, he later settled in Frostburg, where he built a warm and loving home with his wife.
A graduate of Valley High School, Class of 1971, Tim dedicated 35 years of service to the LaVale Sanitation Commission. He was known for his reliability, humor, and unwavering work ethic. For the past 20 years, he and his wife proudly owned and operated Animal House Boarding and Grooming, a place where countless pets and their families felt cared for and welcomed.
Tim's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Kitty Stakem; his sons, Timmy Stakem and Joshua Payne; and his beloved grandchildren, Shaylin Youngerman and Kagan Youngerman. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick Stakem, and his sister, Rebecca Violante (John), along with many extended family members and friends who dearly cherished him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick W. Stakem Sr. and Virginia Stakem; his daughter, Heather Crawford; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Stakem. Tim also leaves behind the memory of his loyal and loving dog and goat, Sampson and Jessie who were never far from his side.
A man of few words, Tim was known for his heart of gold, gentle spirit, love for animals, and steady presence. He touched many lives and will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his dedication to his work, and the warmth he brought to everyone he met.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 1 to 3 P.M. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 with Rev. Marshall Carter Officiating.
Interment will be in Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery.
