Timothy Trossen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buono Funeral Service, Inc. on Nov. 14, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Trossen, Timothy J., age 70, passed away at home in Saugerties, NY on November 8th, 2025 after a two-and-a-half-year journey with pancreatic cancer. We are honored to share his own words.
"It's a rare opportunity to write one's own obituary. It gives me the chance to revisit the love and support from my family. My two children, Carl and Audrey Trossen, have been a bulwark of strength. But it is my wife, Amy Trossen, who's been by my side, advocating for my medical care and projecting the physical strength, mental strength, and social skills so necessary in today's world. I love them dearly.
I was born on March 20th, 1955 in Lakewood, Ohio. I am the second of three children of Henry R. Trossen II and Willie (Billie) M. Clore. I have a younger sister, Elizabeth A. Presutti, and I was predeceased by my parents and older brother, Henry J. Trossen III. I was also predeceased by three very good friends, Dave Dyke, John Gallo, and Paul Noble. I am survived by my wife, sister, children, and several nieces and nephews.
My dad was an aspiring young executive for Union Carbide. Like many large corporations, when they told you to relocate, you relocated. In 1960, we moved to Bridgeport, WV, where I spent some of the best years of my life. In 1965, we finally settled in Westport, CT.
I attended Clarkson University and it was there I met my future best friend, Amy. We were married in 1979, and just celebrated our 46th anniversary on October 20th. I then began my studies as an environmental lawyer, but after graduating I eschewed the practice of law in favor of a career in law enforcement, probation, and corrections."
Tim had an unfettered love of life, but he loved nothing more than his family. He called his sister every day, and the hours spent playing and laughing with his wife and children will be cherished for the rest of their lives.
He was best known for his collection of hobbies. Golfing, skiing, gardening, coaching his kids' sports teams, boating, umpiring, swimming, biking, fixing up cars, hopelessly cheering on the Cleveland Browns, finding new dad jokes to torture us with all of these speak to a deep love of living and a curiosity about the world that spread like fire through those who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to Buono Funeral Service, Inc., 100 Main Street, Saugerties, NY, 12477 on Saturday, November 22nd from 10:00AM-12:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location. Please offer you condolences for Tim and his family online at www.BuonoFuneralSerivice.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in Tim's name to the World Central Kitchen and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Amy, Carl and Audrey: We were so sorry to read of Tim's passing. He was always such a nice man. We remember when you lived just three doors away from us in Glasco, on Delaware Street. The children were small then and Tim was always so proud of you all. Tim always had a kind word and his smile was always welcoming to others. Our deepest sympathy to you all during this very sad time. RIP Tim. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Yesterday

I met Tim as a young man just starting my corrections journey. Lots of great memories. Always think of him when you need an example of a guy who stayed even keel no matter the circumstances. He was a bright light in a sometimes dark space. Prayers to his family and close friends.

Worked and played in the golf league for many years with Tim at UlsterCF. He was a great guy with a gentle soul. My condolences to his family.
