Timothy Harreld Troutman, 71, of Owensboro, passed away October 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a two year, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born August 20,1953 to the late Louis Burnis and Nancy Anne Harreld Troutman in Owensboro. He graduated from Owensboro High School in 1971 where he played baseball. Tim graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering. Following graduation, he was employed with J.D.Q. Engineers for many years. He then went to work at City Hall for 15 years as Associate Director of OMPC, serving as building official for the City of Owensboro. He oversaw Housing, Building and Electrical divisions. Prior to retiring, he was a sporting goods sales rep at Sports Warehouse and enjoyed working with the many coaches throughout western Kentucky that became friends.
Family was his greatest joy, and he loved all family events. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids games. He also spent many years enjoying hunting and fishing. Tim was a lifelong member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. He was graduate of Leadership Owensboro, served on several state committees on planning and zoning, was a past president and board member of Southern Little League and past president of Owensboro Babe Ruth Baseball.
Tim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rhonda Haynes Troutman; his children, Dr. Tim Troutman (Joanie) of Santa Claus, IN and Dr. Lauren Simmons (Ty) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sawyer Troutman, Brady, Carter and Hadley Simmons along with his siblings Marilyn Parham (Freddie) of Lebanon, TN and Dr. Mark Troutman (Judy) of Nicholasville, KY.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, October 31 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Owensboro Southern Little League C/O Independence Bank, 2425 Frederica St. Owensboro, KY 42301. These funds will be used for Southern Little League’s scholarship fund.
