Dr. Timothy Wright, born in
Lewistown, PA in 1951, died in
Milford, DE on August 1, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Tim spent his youth in McClure, PA on the farm and loved to regale his family with many crazy farm stories. Tim was the son of Paul Wright and Helen Wright (Snyder), both deceased. He was preceded in death by his brother Dan and his sister Linda. His other sister, Patty Stone (Wright), lives in Lititz, PA with her husband Jack Stone.
Tim was the loving husband for 47 years to Barbara Wright (Berwick) and proud father to two boys, Jacob and Zachary Wright. He dearly loved his daughter-in-law Helen Dalphonse and granddaughter Eleanor Wright.
Tim was the first person in Decatur Township, PA to become a veterinarian, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. At the time, veterinarian spots were awarded to only one out of every 100 applicants. Tim worked in various locations as both a large and small animal veterinarian, including Mansfield, PA, Chambersburg, PA and
Middletown, DE. During his over 45 years as a veterinarian, Tim treated over 200,000 animals, including cows, horses, cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, rabbits and probably a snake or two. In short, Tim was an expert and able to diagnose many medical conditions, often times calculating correct dosages in his head. Throughout his lengthy career, he helped innumerable families by making their loved ones better.
Despite the time consuming nature of his veterinarian job, Tim always made time for his family. While Zach and Jake were young, he adjusted his schedule so he could always be with them after school and he enjoyed coaching their youth sports teams, including soccer, baseball and basketball.
Tim was also a master craftsman and woodworker, making many bookcases, chests, dressers, porches, and any other project he set his mind to. He singlehandedly built an addition onto two different houses and completed too many landscaping projects to count. Tim loved the outdoors and spending time in his pool with his dogs.
He was known for his exceedingly dry wit and people often could not tell if he was joking or dead serious. He was probably joking, maybe. He loved to laugh and he loved to watch sports, mainly the Phillies.
But most of all, he was kind, he was humble and he loved Barb. He taught his sons the importance of love and kindness through his everyday actions and life. He was a great father, a great husband, and a great grandfather.
He said "always make something better for the next person." And he did. The world is poorer now that he is gone and the summer's light a little less bright, but he made it better while he was here, with his humor, his intelligence and his love.
