Timothy Yoho Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Donald G Walker Funeral Home Inc on Jan. 26, 2026.
Dr. Timothy Price Yoho, 84, passed away on January 24, 2026.
Born November 8, 1941 in Moundsville WV, he was the son of Herbert and Helen (Silver) Yoho. He was a 1959 graduate of Moundsville High School. Tim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960 and was trained as a radio transmitter repairman at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. He was assigned to the 14th Psychological Operations (PsyOps) Bn on Okinawa and took part in operations in Korea, Okinawa, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
In 1967, he graduated from West Liberty State College in biology and chemistry and received a PhD in Developmental Biology and Genetics specializing in Insect Physiology and Biochemistry in 1972 from WVU. He was also awarded an NIH Post-Doc at WVU from 1972-74. His research on Photodynamic Action of light sensitive dyes in insects was in part responsible for the banning of FD&C Red Dye Number 2, and it was highlighted in various books and magazines as important pioneering work in light sensitive dyes and effects on insects.
His career took him to Lock Haven State University in 1974 where he taught Developmental Biology, Entomology, and Physiology. While at LHU he also did research on the presence of the Deer Tick in Clinton County after learning with the discoverer of Lyme Disease, Dr. Willy Burgdorfer. In 1982, Tim married Judith Keegan in the log home he built with the help of several LHU co-workers.
Tim was a member of the Clinton County SPCA Board, The Piper Aviation Museum Board, and the Central PA Street Machines where he developed and maintained webpages for those organizations. He also volunteered time to the Keystone Community Network and was a volunteer examiner for Amateur Radio licensing with the Bald Eagle Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed membership in The Western PA Triumph Association where he shared his love of his restored 1958 Triumph TR3A sports car.
He was preceded in his death by his parents, Herbert and Helen Yoho; younger sister, Kathleen Yoho; and brother-in-law, Harold Ray.
Tim leaves behind his wife, Judith; stepdaughters, Kristy (Sean) Keegan Leitz and Amy (Jeff) Long; grandchildren: Jordan and Taylor Leitz, and Nicholas and Claire Long.
Also surviving are his brother, Philip (Pat) Yoho; his sister, Joanne Ray; his nephews: Andrew Yoho, Tim (Tammy) Ray, Jeff Ray; and his niece, Sharon (Terry) Frankhauser.
Suffice it to say he was one hell of a guy, and life on earth was a better place because he was in it.
Donations in memory of Tim can be made to the Clinton County SPCA, c/o Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
