Biography:
Ismat "Tina" Mansour Gappy, born on June 23, 1951, in Baghdad, Iraq, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, in
San Diego, California, at the age of 72 surrounded by her loving family.
Ismat, affectionately known as Tina, was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend and Catholic. She was married to the late Sabri Gappy, with whom she built a loving and faith-filled home. Together, they raised five children: Neda, Joe, Heather, Dena, and Dahlia. Tina's legacy continues through her 11 cherished grandchildren: KJ, Ethan, Bobby, Hurley, Moana, Tuupo, Aviana, Mya, Mila, Toa, and Sabastian, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Tina's life was a testament to love, family, and generosity. She had an unparalleled passion for cooking, a talent she used to bring people together. Her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of her delicious meals, and she welcomed everyone with open arms and a warm smile. Feeding the entire neighborhood and all of her children's friends was not just a habit but a heartfelt expression of her boundless hospitality and love.
Her dedication to her family was unmatched. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the values of kindness, generosity, and the importance of family connectedness. Tina's nurturing spirit and loving guidance shaped the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. She was highly involved in the church and school, as a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for over 50 years.
Tina will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her Catholic faith, her culinary talents that brought joy to so many, and her generous spirit that touched the lives of everyone she met. She was known by all for her colorful wardrobe including coordinating accessories, handbags, and shoes. Her sense of humor provided endless entertainment and laughter, as she turned any interaction into a fun, memorable moment for anyone she talked to. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a life lived with grace and warmth.
Her family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts, cherishing the memories of her faith, her smile, her love, and the countless meals shared around her table. Rest in peace, Tina, knowing that you have left a beautiful and lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know you.
