Lee "Toby" G. Sanborn, 86, of Peshtigo passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area surrounded by his family. He was born on November 9, 1938, to the late James and Florence (Kingston) Sanborn in Menominee. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. On April 28, 1962, Toby married Judith Walters at St Joseph Church in Walsh. He had worked for Marinette Highway Department for 30 ½ years. He also worked for the City of Peshtigo Police Departments, affectionately known as "rent a cop" and was a volunteer member of the City of Peshtigo Fire Department. Toby enjoyed deer hunting, playing softball, coaching little league, Babe Ruth baseball, and youth football. He especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and following all of the kid's sporting events with his wife, Judy. Toby was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Peshtigo.
Toby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy Sanborn of Peshtigo; son, Jim (Jean) Sanborn of Marinette; daughters, Karla (Ken Cole) Schaut of Marinette and Deanna (Tim) Kodric of Peshtigo; brother, Todd (Dawn) Sanborn of Marinette; sister, Marilyn (Art) Hebert of New Berlin; grandchildren: Ashley, Bryant (Ashley), Lauren (Bobby), Michael (Maleana) Matthew (Courtney), and Levi (Sam); and great grandchildren: Brayden, Logan, Aiden, Casen, and Dom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale; and sister, Dolores Lesperance.
Visitation will be held at S.S. Joseph & Edward Parish in Walsh on Tuesday, May 13th from 9-11am. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am with Fr. Ed Siguenza officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area for all of their compassionate care especially, Rachel, Ryan, Brooke, Celina, Kara and Dr. Yen.
