Service: Celebration of Life, January 18, 2026 from 2-5 PM St. David's Episcopal Church Hall

On Sunday, January 11, 2026, Todd David Clark of Pittsburgh passed away at age 61. Beloved husband of Marian Kathleen Clark, Loving father of McClellan "Mac" Clark, Mara (Adam) Bleil, and Maiti (Spencer) Keen, Dear son of Gerald and Elizabeth Clark, and brother of Brett (Dustin) Clark.

As a young boy, Todd was a talented baseball and basketball player, and yet, his true passion was swimming. His love for the water was unmatched and continued throughout his whole life. There was rarely a day he did not find time to go for a quick dip. Swimming was Todd's home, his happy place, and his peace.

Swimming with Pitt Aquatic Club and North Allegheny, Todd became a WPIAL Champion and high school record holder. He attended Kenyon College, where he enjoyed a stellar career as a seven-time All-American, valued team-member and Captain of that legendary National Championship Team.

Todd's natural disposition steered him straight to coaching – a perfect blend of his passion and his gifts. He often expressed his great fortune to have been mentored by Fred Lewis, Corky Semler, Jerry Holtrey and Jim Steen, and the joy it brought him to share their knowledge with generations of eager minds. Todd began his coaching career with summer league, club, and then, after only one year of collegiate coaching at his Alma Mater, he became the head coach of Case Western Reserve University. During his thirteen-year residency at Case Western, he coached forty-four All-Americans and two individual NCAA Division III National Champions. He was also an incredible contributor to USA Swimming on every level and received numerous awards and recognitions, which, of course, he would humbly accept. On the coaching deck, Todd was known universally as one of the true good guys who would always be there to lend an ear or a hand and was the most loyal of friends.

In 2004, he married the love of his life, Marian, who came with his two wonderful stepdaughters, Maiti and Mara. Todd then brought his coaching skills to Pittsburgh, where he and Marian became a swim coaching Power Couple. Todd and Marian welcomed their son, McClellan, in 2007, who quickly shared his parents' love and dedication for the sport.

A close second to his passion for swimming was the love that he and his wife shared traveling to see Bruce Springsteen perform live. Todd and Marian attended over 65 shows together – ONLY ever in the pit. They made sure to pass along their love of Bruce by bringing each of their three children to concerts along the way.

Throughout Todd's extensive coaching career, he shaped the lives of swimmers at Pittsburgh Field Club, Pittsburgh Aquatic Club, Kenyon University, Case Western Reserve University, Team Pittsburgh Aquatics, Fox Chapel Area High School & Killer Whales, Peters Township High School & Swim Club, Hawken School & Lake Erie Silver Dolphins, and South Fayette High School. Most recently, he was the Co-Creator of Steel City Aquatics – an accomplishment he was so grateful and proud to realize.

Todd enjoyed nothing more than watching his swimmers and family learn, grow, and accomplish. In the fall of 2025, Todd was incredibly proud of his son, Mac, when he began swimming at the University of Tennessee. Even through the peak of Todd's own coaching season, he was able to travel and cheer on his son at several of his first collegiate meets.

Whether it was a bellowing cheer, a bear hug, a handshake-back tap combo, or his subtle smile and approving nod, he knew how to make others feel inspired and loved.

His family will be honoring his life with a private funeral on Friday, January 16, 2026.

A Public Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2-5 pm, at St. David's Episcopal Church Hall, 905 E. McMurray Rd. Venetia, PA 15367. This will be an open house, a time to come and go, share memories, and hold one another close.
