Todd Gerard Haselhorst

With very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Todd Gerard Haselhorst. In August of 2024 Todd began showing early symptoms of what would be formally diagnosed in February of 2025 as Bulbar Onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). After a very stoic but rapid decline, he passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 1st, 2025.

Todd was born in Belleville, IL on December 20, 1969. He grew up on a farm in the small town of New Baden, IL with his mom, dad and three brothers. Todd resided there until he left in 1988 to attend Illinois State University where he graduated with dual degrees of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics in three and a half years. Post graduation, he pursued a career in commercial insurance and risk management, working for both the insurance company side and the broking side over the course of his 33 year career. He was a student of the business and always happy to mentor and teach those around him.

Todd was known for his honesty, integrity, loyalty, and stoic yet outgoing personality. Those closest to Todd described him as easygoing, jovial and happy, and charitable of heart. Todd was also known for his tireless work ethic, both in his personal and professional life, which was buoyed by his seemingly infinite reservoir of energy. He got more done before 7:00 a.m. than most people do all day. A true "get things done" guy, he was always the first to lend a hand. Firmly believing in the philosophy of "how you do anything is how you do everything," Todd was a promoter of diligence and precision. He did not flinch in the face of tragedy or emergency and possessed a rare wisdom in preparing for and responding to such events. While most felt helpless watching the human tragedy of Hurricane Harvey play out on the TV news, Todd was in a johnboat in the the most flooded areas of Houston rescuing countless strangers. His commitment to our Constitutional rights was reflected in his support for causes like the NRA and his love for and support of our military through work with the Wounded Warrior Project. Todd truly was one of the good guys.

Todd was a family man with a cherished circle of good friends. He enjoyed being outdoors in nature and loved to ski, hunt, hike and spend quality time with his family and friends in the mountains. He and Stacy had plans to retire in Teton Valley, Idaho, which had become their family's special place. Above all else, Todd's greatest pride in life were his roles as father to Jordan and husband to Stacy, in which he showcased his love through actions over words.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Stephen Haselhorst and Betty Pingsterhaus Haselhorst. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 24 years, Stacy Seaberg and their 17 year old much loved daughter, Jordan Layne Haselhorst. He is also survived by his brothers Curt Haselhorst (wife Denise), Brad Haselhorst (wife Cathy), Rodney Haselhorst (wife Jeanne), his in-laws Dr. Robert and Susan Seaberg and his sister-in-law Shelly Seaberg Hensley (husband Rick), as well as his much loved nieces and nephews: Hagan and Cate Hensley, and Tanner, Tyler, Hannah, Claire and Jake Haselhorst.

A beloved husband, father, brother, son, and good friend, Todd's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him. Though we mourn the loss of Todd and the void he leaves behind, we celebrate his life and the lessons he imparted to so many. His unwavering love and commitment to his family and friends will forever remain in our hearts. Todd will be dearly missed by all.

A private graveside service for close family and friends will take place on Saturday, December 6th at Magnolia Cemetery in Dayton, Texas. A Celebration of Life will take place on a future date, yet to be determined.
