Todd Joseph Pimentel

Todd Joseph Pimentel passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, dedication, and kindness. Born on December 2, 1968, to Clarence (Clay) and Barbara Pimentel, Todd grew up in Fremont, CA, where he shared countless adventures such as swimming, playing cops & robbers, and riding bikes with his brother, Craig. He attended Chadbourne Elementary, Hopkins Jr. High, and Mission San Jose High, where he discovered his love for the arts, first as a trumpet player with the Van Guards and later in theater and stage production.
Todd pursued his passion at CalArts, which led to a career in the entertainment industry. He began in television production, working on shows like Baywatch, before transitioning to the business side of entertainment. He spent 25 years at The Walt Disney Company, excelling in consumer products and collectibles. A career highlight was his time with Walt Disney Art Classics, including an 18-month assignment in Japan managing Disney art
galleries. Todd later held key roles at Disney Mobile, Disney Interactive Media Group, and Disney Publishing Worldwide.
After the pandemic, Todd continued his career at Mattel, where he worked on major projects, including Barbie: The World Tour, celebrating its success alongside Margot Robbie. His career was one he deeply loved, bringing joy to millions through his work.
Beyond his professional life, Todd was a devoted member of the CalArts community, serving on reunion committees, the Alumnx Council, and as Co-Chair of the Friends of CalArts giving society. He was passionate about mentoring, marketing, and fundraising and never missed a good networking event.
Todd will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and ability to bring happiness to those around him. He is survived by his loving family, friends, and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the lives of Todd and Barbara at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels in Fremont on February 25, 2025. The service will begin at 1:00 pm, with a reception immediately following at The Chapel of the Angels. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barbara and Todd's memory to the California Institute of the Arts – The Todd Pimentel Scholarship, or a charity of the donor's choice that helps the less fortunate or those in need.
